Disclaimer: The letter below should not be deemed offensive in any manner, as the thoughts expressed in it were being very naively nurtured in my brain for quite a long time and finally they found their way out today in the same naive way through this sacrosanct message to God - The Almighty, without any intention of inflicting any kind of malice on my "Meat" loving friends out there. This just vents out my genuine feelings in open. Anyone is free to comment on the same with all the worldly freedom :)

Dear Almighty,
Since the time I have come to Goa, every single day so far, I have seen all kind of fishes, chickens, prawns, lobsters, crabs,....Wait a minute...List seems to be eternal - So, rather I should say - the complete animal kingdom you have created so far - being savored by my fellas on each of the dining tables I had my meals on. Well! That's indeed a splendid spectacle. They are the non vegetarian friends of mine. I respect their appetite and the avid love they possess for their innocent kingdom mates. Wait a Minute! Are you......? Nooo! Not at all! They are not like that as you think they are. Please Lord! Now who says they are bad? Woe Be'tide to those who feel or say so!! After all they are the part of the food chain and are certainly adhering to the theories and rules proposed by all the Darwins born in this world so far.
Here, I must tell you about one very important and adorable trait you are missing in them. They are very religious souls. They have full faith and an irrefutable belief in you - Yes! The God yourself. O Almighty, in this 21st century,where on earth you will find so many followers, when its brimming with atheists all around? You should be proud of these true devotees of yours. So what, if they stuff their tummies with Butter Chickens? How does it matter if they gormandize those delicious Rogan Joshes and Kababs as soon as they get served on the table? What difference does it make if they don't spare any single chance to grab their favorite palatable Crabs, kill them, rip their shells off from their body and relish their curries with a divine satisfaction, remembering you at the same time with extreme sense of culinary satisfaction?
Yes. I outrightly refute all the allegations you make against my friends on the basis of the above points. BECAUSE - O Lord! The Almighty! You would be moved by the disclosure which is going to come now - Today is Maha Shivratri! Your day, God - and you would be glad to know that my friends are fasting - Just having some leafy stuff - that's what they call a veg food - indeed a big deal for them. Also guess what? Yes! no non veg cuisine in the college mess. You are ought to appreciate that fortitude, Lord. No, its not a once in a while affair. Some of my mates fast on Tuesdays too (For The Hanuman Ji in you) and wait - Some on Thursdays too(For one of the abc God's in you). Ya. Trust me! Now are you convinced with the fact that how justified they are in having a perfect diet they have?
Don't be so rude O Lord! Are you trying to call them hypocrites? Well! I must not object to all your opinions. I am in the good list of yours. Don't want to tarnish my image for sure. Wink ;). But Hey! You have to consider my plea. You ain't that bad. Are you?
Do consider their considerations they make while grabbing a "RED DOTTED" food can. They just can't resist the temptation. But they do. They do it for you, O Lord! And you call them hypocrites? Huh. So Rude of you! :(

I regret not having a blog of my own today. Coz I want to write a post in response to the one you wrote Hariya. Not against it... Mind you!
Imagine a Rehab center for Non Veggies having a meeting of all those who've read this post and totally agree to it...
Me: "Hi! My name is Varun and I'm a NON Vegeterian."
Junta:"Hi Varun!"
Me: "I used to detest Non Veg till I came to Indore for my graduation. Every Sunday evening, because of the Mess-off, me and my friends used to go out to have food. And that's when I started turning into a Non Veg foodie."
And the current status is that I'm CLEAN for the past...{a brief pause}
Junta: {All ears}
Me: "mmmm... lemme remember {counting on my fingers}... 3... No... actually 4...{another pause}
Junta: {Gasp!}
Me: "HOURS"
Junta: "BOOOOOOOOO!!!... #@#$%^^&#"
Me: "I did my summers from ICICI Pru in Kolkata"
Junta: "WTF dude!? As if we care about your stupid summers"
Me: "The I-Pru office is at AJC Bose Road"
Junta: "Abey ****iye... Seedhe bol na. What's the point??"
Me: "AJC bole to Acharya Jagdish Chandra. A Noble Laureate. AKA Father of Radio Science. Checkout his wiki page- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagadish_Chandra_Bose
You know what this genius proved!?"
Junta: "What??"
Me: "That plants too have LIFE"
Bam Bhole!
:)..Hey Maddy! U know what! While I was writing the post, I thought of the same retort which I could get in all probabilities. And see, here's your post. However the intention was to focus more on opting for a veg food on religious days as if God doesn't eat non veg on such days and at the same time was insinuating to vegetarianism :)). Whatever. I accept your retort. I loved writing this one and also loved reading your comment as usual. I knew whatsoever be the case, Maddy always reads my posts and post his comments, which I just love reading:)
Excellent.Very good writing.
@Rishi:Nice writitng. Though i could not make out in the first go the inclination of it. But I get it now after reading your comment on it.
I sincerely believe, turning up vegeterian on festivals is insensible. I do not oppose non vegeterians et all but believe it should be a nice balance of both. Thinkig low about vegeterian food and just eating meat, increases its demand and calling for killing varied animals. Being educated & eco friendly one should probably not forget what their desires can lead to.
sorry for a late reply but Excellend post.. ppl can have huge debate on content but the style of writing reminded me of Jug suraiya and Bachi karkaria... Keep such posts coming...
i know the focus of the original post was "not having non-veg on festivals etc".. bt on such a topic, it has to detour to veg v/s non-veg.. i hav 2 pennies to add..
agreeing with Varun, plants do have life... no doubt... bt lets look at this way... today, farmer plants a seed (lets keep aside, for the moment, from where did this seed arrive)... he waters that seed, feeds fertilizers.. makes sure that the environment is conducive for the growth of the plant... without the farmer, there wud have been no plant... why did the plant come into existence? the plant was grown to be used by the farmer (humans).. and why not? he's the father of the plant...
now, lets take the other situation.. today a bakra bakri gave birth to chhota bakra.. now what the F$#&%^ a human had to do with that??? now u can say that the animal was properly feeded n all by humans (how the animals are treated is a separate issue)... bt the point is that that animal wud have done well or not done well without this human intervention... all these animals have their own food chains which can work very well without the human intervention as well...
if u say cutting of forests is like killing animals.. that i fully agree.. forests are not naturally cutivated by humans and thus, cutting of forests is like killing them..
